Lost in Manehattan: Blind in Denial by SmellsLikeBeer Lost in Manehattan: Blind in Denial by SmellsLikeBeer
The third piece of the series of drawings "Lost in Manehattan".
After the bit gory second piece I wanted to make something not-so-drastic. After that this felt kinda lame, and first I was a bit afraid of how it would look in the end. But it turned out quite nice I think.

So, shortly, the series is about Apple Jack as an young filly looking for a different life in Manehattan. I imagine the city as really inhospitable and horrible place covered in a fake, fancy outlook.
Here's the first part: [link]
And here's the second (includes blood and violence):[link]

A5, Indian ink and watercolor.
I think that's all for now.

is always good to reflect the peace of a despair situation, when we are walking on a dark city, a little strange is see the other side of the tunnel, when you pass you make a indisent way of life of the other folk wondering how do you get there and even more what brought them there.
Love it especially that pony hooker, damn Applejack why you have to be so awesome.

Seems like being lost is the least of her problems! Lovely work! Really looking forward to seeing more of this series.

Poor AJ... that mare is cute, though. Another powerful image from you. Thank you for sharing this, and Happy Holidays.

Again, your inking work is just amazing in bringing out the true grittiness of the scene yet keeping such amazing detail of the city and its inhabitants. Just to design this – just to think up the place – is pretty great in itself too.

Truly a scary tunnel to find herself in, probably in an attempt to hide from all the bad stuff going on in the streets. Lil' Applejack didn't realize that some of the most awful ponies thrive in places like these. At least the guy didn't try to "give her a job," but why do I get a feeling that the escort mare is smiling at AJ because seeing the filly reminds her of when she was little and happy.

Nice way to sign the piece too, along with the extra message from The Manehatten Council on Bad Ways to Cope. =p

Poor AJ. Must've taken her hours, maybe even days to find her aunt and uncle. And if Manehatten is anything like the real New York, then I wouldn't be surprised if it really looked like that.

This actually reminds me of Dishonored.

Reminds me of the TMNT comics.

The way you drew that hallway is amazing; it's as if it actually has depth.

Let's hope she will see the better side of the slums of Manehattan. I know there is a certain type of friendliness and colorful, vibrant, and good people who have lived their whole life in places like this. I just want her to see others who can have a spot of color in a place like this.

Very nice! Your drawings are always amazing, but one thing I enjoy especially about them is discovering those little bits and pieces, like the text in the newspapers :)

So, that kind-looking pony in the background made me think that she found some friendly hobos that took her under their wing for the night, like how Spawn ended up making friends with the homeless when no one else would take him in.
Then I saw what kind of dress she was wearing. Now I'm confused. What's a hooker doing in a dark tunnel? That's now way to advertise her services! XD

You might not have made as gory as the first and second but the emotions is still painted all over her face. That kind of expression is not easy to come by even in a site like this. I'm afraid I have to cut this short doe to unimportant reasons though... Anyway great work and keep it up. By the way if you chose to answer: For how long do you plan to keep this manehatten thing?

I don't think this is lame, even considering the awesome second part. I definitely think the concept is very good, and in total I really like the mood.
In my opinion, this could seem a bit less illuminated, thus contrasting the oil lamps and perhaps the outside more.
I also found one or two errors in perspective - giving the nearer arch and the wheels an unnatural - which is a shame, as your pictures otherwise always have a polished feel to them.
In total, although this is my favourite piece in the series conceptually, I think it's execution could have been better, considering your usual standards.

Oh, and I don't see this picture as negatively as it might seem, the picture is beautiful.
